Color Patchworks is a vibrant visual conversation rooted in a specific studio photography session with an Asian artist whose striking visual presence the contrast between her traditional "japonisante" skin tone and intricate tattoos provided the initial spark. This series is a deeply personal synthesis of my ongoing passion for integrating studio portraiture into complex, multi-layered compositions.
Expanding beyond photography, each artwork is a hybrid creation, combining physical paper collages with hand-painted textures on paper and digital montage. The defining element of Color Patchworks, however, is the incorporation of unique hand-painted wallpapers created by my mother, the esteemed Venezuelan artist Esther Ojeda.
By blending these different materials and cultural notes, the series creates a vibrant patchwork of color, texture, and graphic rhythm, turning photography into a tribute to family heritage and artistic roots.
